Announcement on an open Internship position in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery
at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the KSVM, the Hebrew University, Israel

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is offering an additional One-year Intern position in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery for 2022-2023.
The internship will start on August 1st 2022 and end on July 31th 2023. The goal of the program is to enable clinical experience in different aspects of large animal veterinary work. The successful candidate will rapidly acquire professional confidence and clinical experience in a variety of fields in equine medicine, under the close guidance of board-certified specialists in equine medicine and surgery.
The duties of the intern include receiving elective and emergency cases, diagnoses and treatment of hospitalized cases, maintaining contacts and updating clients and referring veterinarians, actively participating in morning rounds, journal club, seminars and clinical teaching of senior veterinary students. During the first quarter of the internship the intern will participate in a week of guided equine anesthesia under the direction of our board-certified anesthesiologists.
The intern will have frequent emergency shifts over the week including weekends and holidays. During the year the intern deserves 2 weeks of vacation. In order to fulfil his duties and receive an official internship graduation the interns must have a case report (or other manuscript) accepted by a peer reviewed veterinary journal. The working terms, including financial details, will be defined in a contract signed between the hospital administration and the intern. The first 3 months of the internship is a test period for both sides and the interns progress will be monitored by the senior clinicians in the department.
The candidate must hold a veterinary degree and a valid veterinary license in Israel, or he may be a senior student of veterinary medicine in the KSVM that intends to fulfill all his/her requirements, including passing all final exams and having the final project ("thesis") graded by the time the position is opened.

2. A letter of intent stating the reason the candidate elects this program and explaining the reasons he should be elected for the position.
3. Veterinary degree grades during the entire program.
4. Diploma in Veterinary Medicine.
5. An Israeli Veterinary Medicine license, can be a temporary one (given on basis of having a DVM degree abroad).
6. Two-Three letters of recommendation from veterinarians, ideally clinicians at academic institutions. (KSVM graduates are exempted from submitting recommendation letters).

A candidate may receive a notice that he is on a waiting list and he may be asked to arrive for an interview by the intern/residency committee.
